Should I switch mobile providers to save on a new phone?

I am currently with Sprint, 8 months into a 2 year contract, I would like to have a so-called "smart phone" one of those nifty pda thingys. I would currently have to pay full retail at the sprint store, or I could pay 250 to terminate my contract and go with a different provider and save mucho moola on one of these. Does anyone have any good suggestions for carriers to choose and pda phones to look at. BTW I have a mac running 10.3 . Thanks in advance for the input.

I have cingular and have no problems. I don’t know if the cancellation charge and the new activation charge added together would be any cheaper than just paying for the PDA.

Try ebay you could probably find a pda/smartphone for less than 250 dollars it would cost to get out of your current contract. Just make sure that it is a sprint phone, and that it has a clear esn. any good seller should be able to provide you with the esn of the phone and you can call sprint and they will tell you if it is clean. after that you should have no problem activating it.
